Next to nothing is happening. Too many characters to follow yet no movement in the story. Might just not be the right time for me

I’m 57 pages into a 600 page book and for two pages straight NOTHING has happened. A guy arrived at a location. That’s it. In the entire book the following has happened “painter attacked painting was interned in a psych ward, one psychologist referred the case to another because he ‘can make a stone talk’ and is interested in art as well. There are some “mysterious” French letters involved and the painter keeps drawing the same woman over and over. Psychologist reached out to ex wife to talk to her about painter.” That’s it, that’s 57 pages of reading
There was a whole chapter the psychologist dude went to the museum to look at the attacked painting and I could tell you nothing about the value of that chapter. It added nothing, absolutely nothing to the plot, except to say the psychologist is a bit of a perv because his grown self was attracted to minors😶 it’s honestly lowkey putting me in a reading slump. And the writing style is so uninspired. A lot of adjectives and yet it’s not visually rich at all. The author is telling me things, or the psychologist is, but I can hardly see what he is seeing or doing, except when he was sexualizing the minor…sooo 📖🗑️

Not substantial enough, I knew everything she was introducing. It’s a book for people discovering introversion, not for people that are well aware of the trait and its characteristics, impact, influences etc.
