I'm glad that I read this book at the beginning of January. It was warm and inspiring as it helped me to look at things in a positive light.
I also liked how the 'mysteries' were solved throughout the book, making it feel as if all threads we're neatly sewn together.
A few qualms about I have about this, though, is that - while I get the tone and theme of the book, I personally felt as if all issues we're solved with positivity. Maybe this is me being pessimistic/realistic, but some stories fell flat because of that. Also, I find myself squirmish whenever a character described the librarian. While I consider that it might have been different in the original text or has something to do with the translation, or the librarian might have been a divine being, I still find the repetitive description of the librarian as huge... distressful.
All in all, I give it 3.75/5 stars. A heartwarming read which gives me a positive outlook for the new year.

A solid 3.5/5 stars!
This was a heart-warming read, great for starting the new year.
It will make you think about how people are interconnected and inevitably affects each other's trajectory.
(SPOILER!!!)
I was taken aback at the sudden appearance of tagalog words and Philippines 😆 I did not know what to feel about the war scenes in the Philippines either... oh well

Wow, that was a painful read. There were moments when I felt as if the author is talkimg about characters that do not inherently affect neither the main characters nor the story.
All in all, it made me angrier at the imposed gender roles and the abuse towards women in the scheme of authority and power.
