Where Are Your Boys Tonight?: The Oral History of Emo's Mainstream Explosion 1999-2008 by Chris Payne
4.25
Nostalgic and new at the same time, I learned a lot I didn't know about for a person who has grown with the scene but didn't live deep enough into it to have first hand knowledge of most of the events as they unfolded. Sometimes it's stuff you really can't know until time has passed and the people who lived it look back. Great read for emo and general music lovers alike.

The House of Tomorrow by Peter Bognanni
3.5
Sweet and relatable, the kind of story that deserves more - I could read a series worth these characters - but as it is, it leaves me wanting. It feels like it only scratches the surface... I suppose it's fitting, in a way, but you'd have to read it to understand. Enjoyable audio book narrator.
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
3.5
I wanted to give this a 4, it probably deserves a 4. It's my own fault for doing the audio book and losing track of all the clues and characters. What I felt was a well developed ending would've likely been even better had I remembered more leading up to the reveal. But I like the author's writing style, the breaking of the 4th wall and all that. If there's any issue, it's all my own, in all honesty. I'm definitely going to read #2 but in print, I think!
Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
2.5
I'm sad to admit that I'm much more interested in what happens after the epilogue than what I got from the actual pages... my second book by this author that left me feeling this way. 😕
Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano
3.5
I dunno why, but this was my last favorite of the series so far. However, it really packed a wallop at the end and the set up for book 4 is very intriguing!
