A creepy collection of Halloween themed short stories. I love collections like this for holiday reads and this one did not disappoint. Short stories just speak differently to me and I'm all for the open endings they offer. Put this on your list for next year!

As a big Malerman fan, I was admittedly disappointed with this one. ðŸ˜
Initially I had trouble with the voice of the narrator of the audio book, but pushed past it. I was into the story, the mystery, I wanted to know what the deal with this sound was too.
And I still want to know. I don't feel like this was tied together well, I'm confused and I'm not a fan of feeling this way after finishing a book. I don't mind open endings but this just didn't tie everything together in a way that makes me understand any of what actually did happen. I would've loved like 50 more pages or something to alleviate this feeling. It has potential! Perhaps the mistake was choosing the audio book. Off to Reddit to see if anyone else had any better insights. Sigh.

The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story by Ann Rule

I made this choice after reading Murder Book and while interesting, I found it lacking. Of course then I found out that it's an abridged version, which now really explains how short it was. Had I chosen the unabridged version, I probably would've gotten more out of it. However I'm not really gonna go back through all that (and then some) again. Ann is an OK narrator and I've realized that I probably prefer fictional crime over true crime.

I couldn't put this down! I'm not obsessed with True Crime but I've dabbled enough to relate. This is a fun illustrated novel perfect for true crime noobs and murderinos alike (I learned a new word!). Funny, not at all scary, and thoughtful. I recommend!
Moderate: Death, Misogyny, Pedophilia, Racism, Rape, Sexual assault, Police brutality, Kidnapping, Stalking, and Murder
