There's so much to unpack in this novel about an arranged marriage that follows an unexpected course. I found Afi to be extremely relatable, despite the fact that she often acted as a very spoiled teenager. There's a heavy dose of frustrating supporting characters in which we, along with our heroine, must endure along the way. It's always very enlightening to read about different cultures and traditions, especially getting to see things from a different viewpoint. Ultimately, I enjoyed going on this journey with Afi and find myself thinking of the other women in the story and their perspective of the events as they unfolded. I'm glad this book was recommended to me, and I pad on the recommendation to you!

Perfect for those riding the 70s fictional rock roller coaster that is Daisy Jones and perfect for those who wanted to like Daisy but struggled with the interview format. But it's so much more than that! Ursa Major branches off in unexpected ways and ended most in a satisfying manner. I truly enjoyed this debut and look forward to her next book, whatever it may be.

Oh boy.

This book went from interesting to boring to anger-inducing to something that left me with mixed emotions. At one point I thought it might be getting a 1 star rating but it was redeemed by the end, a bit. I gotta put it right in the middle with 3 stars... Although there were some clever and surprising bits, I felt it was mostly too predictable. Some of those predictable things were annoying and some were exactly what I wanted. I did enjoy some parts, but ultimately I found the overall plot a tad over the top. This does have potential for a good film adaptation, though.

But seriously... what's up with that curtain pattern man??

I'm big mad, ya'll. And there's spoilers which I might come back and properly tag later, so beware.

It's my VERY FIRST 1 star rating and I'm just so disappointed.

I'm NOT a fan of ambiguous endings. I came here because the movie trailer intrigued me and subsequently discovered it was based on a book. I CAME here for answers and I did NOT get them. Also, don't get me started on the choice made with Wen. Sigh.
