This was cute. If really obvious homages to Disney versions of stories bother you, this might be one to set aside -- I love a good retelling, but there were a few that even I as a self-proclaimed Disney Adult felt were too on-the-nose. But overall, this was fun to read.

I'm torn on how to rate this book, because I found it interesting and exceptionally well-written, but I also wouldn't necessarily recommend it because it's also disturbing and made me sad/disgusted/angry throughout since it IS based on a very real, tragic thing.

The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor

There are some wonderfully powerful ideas and concrete actions/suggestions in this book, but there's also a lot of repetition and some circular logic/undefined terms that makes it feel a little "Instagram Motivational Quote-y" from time to time. I do think it's worth it for Chapters 2 & 5 alone, which focus on the sociopolitical, intersectional elements at the foundation of the "radical self-love" concept.

This was charming, sweet, and delightful. I read *Lovelight Farms* a few months ago and enjoyed it, but this was even better.

The first 50% of this book, I nearly DNF'd twice. The FMC 's issues with her body were a STRUGGLE to read, and not in a "wow, this is an emotional journey" way, but in a "woman, seriously, call a therapist because I cannot handle your self-deprecation and self-esteem issues" way. The MMC also felt more caricature than character. The second half of the book improved some (enough I was willing to finish reading), but yeah - no interest to pick this up again or read anything else in the series.

I'm shocked I liked this as much as I did, considering I tend to avoid books where pregnancy is a main theme, but Eve and Shep and Ethan and Willa and the whole crew found a place in my heart almost immediately and stayed there through the full journey of this story.
