This is the kind of book that teases you with mysteries, then actually rewards you for speculating. A joy to read, especially connecting with Matthew and Declan as they come a little closer to the spotlight and work through who they want to be.

Reading these books has got me thinking about the Female Gaze. Where other books in the Urban Fantasy genre are playing with conventions of the hard boiled detective and the Male Gaze, this has gender swapped it. All the men in these books are hot, and Kate's got the hots for all of them. Honestly, it's a refreshing shift.
