I gobbled this book up in an evening. It did feel like a lot happened but also a lot didn’t.

Lor is just now starting to deal with all the traumas from her life and it was soooo nice to see Nadir respecting her boundaries and not touching her unless she asked for it. She has some seeeeerious trust issues though and it’s all because of Atlas.

I didn’t mind the flashbacks, it provided a lot of context as to what is happening now. I suspect we’ll get more in the next book. However I’m sooo curious by who/what Lor really is. The torch reacting to her like that when she’s not ascended and then Rions comment about “not knowing what she is” made me SUPER curious. There must be more than her just being the primary.

When I TELL YOU I wanted to throw my kindle across the room when I finally thought they were going to have sex and Lor would realize they were mates but then it got ruined RIGHT at the climax. Ugh.

This was an enjoyable short read for me, I finished it in one night.

The FMC Lydia is cool but I feel like she’s missing something because I had a hard time liking her past “okay yeah she’s pretty cool.” Ya know. I enjoyed the MMC Quinn’s pov much more. I felt like he had more depth.

There’s a lot more to learn about him and his magic, hopefully we’ll get that in the second book along with some more writing that makes me feel connected to Lydia!
