Eager: The Surprising, Secret Life of Beavers and Why They Matter by Ben Goldfarb
2.25
i love beavers but i had such a hard time wading through this book! it was very heavy on environmental contributions of beavers/ways to deter them and less so on the actual life of the beaver which is what i'm more interested in.
Euphoria by Lily King
4.5
i was really fascinated throughout this entire story despite the fact that nothing much really happened. the drama felt so real and i was so enraptured with my nose all up in their business. love hanya yanagihara but this is the better version of the people in the trees i'll say it.
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
1.5
i fear this was so boring. i think the balance of POVs was off, and the timeline as well. certain pieces of her past should've come up a lot earlier. i also was caught off guard by the dystopian piece... idk i feel like this just had a lot of pieces that were patched together poorly and it all felt off.

The Forest Brims Over by Maru Ayase

i just tbh still don't really understand this book. i felt like what is said in the synopsis was focused on 20% of the time. i was confused a lot of the time, and felt like the characters and stories felt very flat (i am finding this is a common theme with east asian translated fiction and am wondering if its the fault of translation??). mixed throughout was beautiful imagery and great feminist talking points which i enjoyed, albeit laid on a bit thick towards the end.
