5.0

One of my favorites, and here's why. This was one of the first books I read that wasn't either histrionic harlequinny-like romance, or pop-market thriller or detective story. I think that this book taught me about how much I enjoy reading about other cultures. It introduced me to Southeast Asia in a way that lingers still in my memory. So although 5 stars may seem generous, I have such fond memories of the story itself and the joruney that I have taken because of this book that it will always be in my top ten.
