Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

WOW
Why did I wait this long to read this???
Heir takes place 20 years after the ending of A Sky Beyond the Storm. You technically don’t have to read the Ember in the Ashes Quartet to read Heir but……1.) why wouldn’t you? It’s an amazing series and 2.) it elevates the reading experience!!
I loved getting back into this world and seeing some of my favorite characters back in action but there is a host of brand new characters that were so easy to love…..and some maybe not so much.
3 different perspectives ….which sometimes can bog me down as a reader but I’m not even kidding…..at the end of each chapter/pov I was like whatttttttttt
In true Sabaa Tahir fashion…the story did not go where I thought it would go. Literally 210 pages in and I was like wow what???? Plot twist!!
10/10
“When you sacrifice other people’s children on the alter of your ambition, it’s only a matter of time before you’ll be willing to sacrifice your own. That’s how evil works, Aiz.”
“When Humanity turns on its Children, then you know we are lost.”
Trigger Warning: This books speaks on genocide, religious abuse, war and death.
Let me tell you a story about a magical apartment in NYC. There are two rules, take your shoes off at the door and don’t fall in love. Also on its own free will, the apartment will take you back 7 years in the past…. I cried, I laughed, I resonated. This book ..chef’s kiss!
I truly love reading books about women and their life experience …..but the amount of times I audibly said girl what the fuck are you doing??
This is about midlife, sex, menopause, monogamy and what life looks like for women after the end of their cycle. It was in your face, it was hilarious, emotional and profound. A literal trip.
Hey! Did you know that Librarians and Scholars were the first spies in WWII? Their work eventually led to the creation of the first intelligence agency in the US!
Read their stories but along the way read about how the Banning of Books and information helped the Nazi party thrive. Read about the brave people who fought against that and then think about how that relates to our current political climate.
I found this book on the shelf a couple days ago. I was intrigued because Belen’s story is one I did not know as i imagine is the same for many people in the US.
Belen was unjustly accused of murder and sent to prison for 3 years after having a miscarriage at a hospital. This story ignited the fight for abortion rights in Argentina! This was heartbreaking and infuriating but also full of courage and resilience. An important read right now with the ongoing fight for Women’s rights in our country.
