Intriguing and incredibly sarcastic, Kurkov’s renowned masterpiece is a delight of a story. First, the premises contain all the elements to make it a curious story: a penguin and a random man. But the magic of this book lays in the structure and genres Kurkov explores and mixes: comedy, satire, thriller and adventure make this story a truly remarkable read. the ending is the sweetest part.

One of the best adventures I’ve ever read, mixing history and piracy. Very well structured and particularly original, a refreshing read that reconciled me with fiction. Simply Superb.
