That Night in the Library by Eva Jurczyk
2.5
Thank you to NetGalley, Eva Jurczyk and Poisoned Pen Press for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This starts off kind of strange in my opinion and then it doesn’t really improve for me. It’s twisted and you are wondering what is happening the entire time and end the ending is the best part. The shock of that was the best part of the entire book and I reread it just to confirm that’s exactly what happened.
Someone in the Attic by Andrea Mara
3.0
This sounded really amazing. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I loved the first quarter and the last quarter. Everything in between is necessary but I was just a bit bored since the book started right off with action.
The Doll's House by Lisa Unger
5.0
Thank you to NetGalley, Lisa Unger and Amazon Original Stories for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I love Unger’s writing so much. I don’t usually read short stories but I took a chance and I’m not upset about it. It was twisted and easy read, while still feeling like it was a full and finished story.
One of Us Knows by Alyssa Cole
4.25
I was shocked how quickly I flew through this one and how much I enjoyed it considering I didn’t love her previous novel. It’s so enjoyable and twisty. I thought keeping the personalities straight, but they very have clear voices and I love their personalities so much.
The Marriage Act by John Marrs
3.5
One thing I love about this author is that when there are a bunch of characters, it’s so easy to keep them and their stories straight. This was a long novel, but it didn’t read that way. I was very interested in how this was going to turn out.
The Witches of Moonshyne Manor by Bianca Marais
3.5
I loved that this was more about friendship and being an older woman than about fighting with men. It was more the friends working together to solve a problem and I loved the characters so much. This was funny and twisty and I really recommend.
The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave
4.0
I really enjoyed this book. It’s more slower paced than most of my reads but it was full of information to try to help you solve the mystery. The characters are well developed and I read this so quickly!
Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie
4.0
This was a creepy novel about a haunted house. I loved the many different transcripts and different types telling this story. It made it a much faster read. I don’t know how I feel about that ending, but I would recommend if you enjoyed other DiLouie’s work.
Death at the Sanatorium by Ragnar Jónasson
3.0
Thank you to NetGalley, Ragnar Jonasson and St Martin’s Press for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I usually love Jonasson’s writing but something about the first half of this novel just didn’t speak to me. But the last half was amazing. I was totally into it and the twists were good. I loved seeing a character return from previous novels and I hope there will be another novel with these characters.
Camp Lanier by Sylvester Barzey
4.25
Thank you to NetGalley, Sylvester Barzey and Sterling and Stone for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This was very good and twisty. I loved that this wasn’t the normal camp slasher and had a really good paranormal element. I flew through it and really would recommend.
