This was a cute read with a few issues. I hated the fact that there were a couple “this is going to go to my hips” comments. I just don’t see why those comments needed to be in there. I also hated the fact that the author chose to say that listening to an audiobook is not reading. That just didn’t sit well with me and came off ableist.

Outside of those things, the story was cute. It could be a christmas movie. The characters were good though they fell a little flat to me. The plot was cute though.

The writing was bad. The book had various issues. At one point it even changed from first person POV to third person.

  • Was it amazing? No.
  • Did it keep me entertained? Yes.
  • Did it invent the IICYIFY saying? No.
  • Did I have to wake up this morning to the author claiming she invented that phrase? Yes.
  • Am I going to continue on in the series? Probably not.
Look, this defiantly wasn’t my favorite read but it was entertaining. Check the trigger warnings and definitely make sure you know them. This book is dark and twisted. The writing was decent and the plot kept me entertained.

We Will Rest!: The Art of Escape by Tricia Hersey is one of those books that I'll want to go back to and relisten to it. It has some great points to it and could be a good book for those who are ready to slow down and break out of hustle culture. This book does have some religious undertones which didn't work for me but that is more on my religious trauma vs. the book. There are some great messages in this book and the author/narrator had a great relaxing tone that helped put me in the right mindset to read it.

Very cute, great graphics, and just a fun pallet cleanser.
