Reasonably entertaining, but somewhat clunky and heavy handed.

I tried for my boo, but it’s just too boring and white man-y.

This book has everything you could want in a book. Fairytale vibes. A dog made of bones. A possessed chicken.

I struggled a bit to get through this extremely dense book. It’s one of those historical fantasy novels that teaches you a lot about our current culture. I’d describe it as boring but powerful. If you’re really into linguistics and don’t know a lot about the harms of colonialism, this is a good one to read.

OH MY GOD. Oh my god. Katherine Arden did not disappoint with her new book. Incredibly written. I want to immediately reread it. Her characters are so incredibly alive. I often say about the Winternight trilogy that Vasya is my favorite protagonist, and Laura has just joined her at the top of the list. I was worried I wouldn’t love it as much as Winternight, and I am so glad she proved me wrong.

I am obsessed. The characters, the story, the twists! I loved it SO much. Didn’t want to put it down, pulled many late nights reading it 😄
