Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
3.0
I was expecting to enjoy this book a lot more than I actually did. I think the characters killed it for me mostly, I just did not find them well written. Charlie Gordon's disability felt very poorly portrayed as well, like it was a caricature of how it ought to have been.
Cool premise, sad ending, overall disappointing.

Ubik by Philip K. Dick

Absolutely ridiculous book, in a good way. Short but for the most part it does not waste a page, missing one can throw off the whole story. I do not think I could come up with any simple description of the plot, in a way that would make sense at least.
The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu

I am a sucker for the Kardashev scale. The book sorta felt like Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood End in places. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Mort by Terry Pratchett

This is the book to go to for a good read about death personified. If you have ever thought about picking up On a Pale Horse, don't. Read this instead.
All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy

I wish this was the Cormac McCarthy novel I chose to read first, nothing to be done about that now and not like that is any big deal. It is a fantastic read and I am sure it will stick with me for a long time. Of all the books I have read from him so far, this one best balances all the things that are uniquely and unmistakably Cormac McCarrthy.
