When Shane said "I wanted to drown in your fucking bath water" I knew this was going to be the best book I read this year. It's definitely in the top ten of best books I've read period, and I've read a lot. I laughed, I cried, my heart was both broken and mended.

Tia Williams created such a vivid picture of these characters, I could have been living their experiences myself. This is my standard for romances now. I fear I may never get over this.

This book was cover-to-cover war and war preparation. It was constantly entertaining, but I couldn't connect to the characters like I'd been able to with the previous books in the Valdemar universe. The ending was wrapped up perfectly I think, so I might not read the sequel, but if I do I will be going in with the high hopes of it being just as entertaining as this.

This is a debut novel?!?!? Absolutely crazy. This was a punch to the face of a book.

This was a cute love story, but it was way too long-winded for me and it dragged. It took a lot of willpower for me to sit and finish large chunks of this at a time.

This month so far has been really stressful for me, and it forced me to slow down while I'm reading and actually spend a lot longer digesting what I read than the time I normally spend with the text, and I'm grateful for it. Song of Solomon is the first book I've read this month and I got so swept up in it regardless of much or how little I was able to read at a time. It's heavy and thought-provoking and I loved following Milkman on his journey to the past.

I think I'm burnt out on the series already, and I've only read 4 volumes. Akira can be over-the-top with his one track mind and the author tries to frame it in a comical light every time.

We got a lot of new characters in this one, too, one of them being a permanent addition to the group. Who just so happens to be an oversexualized, stereotypical German college student obsessed with Japan to the point where she knows everything about everything they're seeing. The author even wrote in her accent in her speech bubbles to make sure that we know she's German, but didn't do the accent correctly or even consistently so that was annoying.

This entire volume annoyed me, actually. I don't think I'm going to continue this series, not just because of this single annoying volume, but because I'm just not feeling it anymore. Although this one left off with a cliffhanger so it did seem as if it's going to ramp up fast in the following volumes.
