IMMEDIATELY: This is the first time I’ve ever finished a book and immediately wanted to read it again. There’s so much in it and I KNOW the next time I read it, I’ll uncover even more. In fact, I’m writing this paragraph the day after finishing and am looking at my TBR shelf of 200+ unread books and debating on ignoring my TBR to just read this one again.
THOUGHTS: From the first sentence through the last, this book will have you hooked.
There is a craftsmanship in the words that goes beyond fantastic writing into creating something that will live within readers. It will impact you while you read and stay with you after you are finished. You will find yourself reflecting on the passages throughout your experience. I can see this book being discussed in classrooms and book clubs, in bibliotherapy sessions and among friends.
While the themes are heavy and there’s room for analysis (if you want to go that route), it is also a very enjoyable story that you won’t want to put down. There are a few plot twists that I doubt you will see coming and it is very easy to be immersed in the story, feeling as though you’re along for the ride. I often found myself feeling like I had a stake in the events, that the aftermath would impact me.
All of the characters are so well thought out and so full of life, experiences, personality, and more that it’s almost impossible to tell who the main characters are. It is easy to find ways to relate to them, even when their world experience is different from yours.
I really can't recommend The Ore Monger enough, it is a fantastic read and I do not think readers will be disappointed.
