I'm emotional. I usually don't read second chance romances, but having adored NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG, I knew I had to pick this one up.

I adored the characters. Ama's joy was infectious. Despite never wanting to be married herself, she throws her entire being into planning every bride's dream wedding. Her curiosity, creativeness, and excitement are contagious. I found myself smiling every time she entered the flower shop and just showed herself right into Elliot's workspace. Elliot's quiet and grounding presence was palpable throughout, and juxtaposed perfectly with Ama's anxiety and perfectionism. The saying "still waters run deep" came to mind more than once, especially when Elliot was comforting a bride.

The chapters mostly follow a pattern of switching POVs every chapter, with Ama's in the present day and Elliot's in the past. It was hard reading the past chapters knowing heartbreak was approaching, but it also made the HEA extremely gratifying. There were a few scenes that I could have seen going bigger and more shocking, but I think that's part of the beauty of this book. It was realistic in the small moments that all added up to an entire picture. There didn't need to be b*tch slaps or over-the-top declarations. It was true to the characters and to real life in a way that isn't exceedingly common in fiction.
