Funny and heartfelt. Mostly focused on prom and other Senior Year stuff as well as coming to grips with being bullied for be gay and taking that and flipping it to gain support from a whole lot of unexpected allies and open the door for other students to come out. Lots of pop culture references which also in HP a lot.

Jen Bartel art covers are stunning as always! Mariko tells a great story and always bringing the good queer lines, like something like "I loved the lecture series on Cross-stitching and mindfulness".

I wish there was a little more substance, but I get this was a start to something...more.

Queer history is so important and even fictionalization of queer history is so important and I loved how this book included snippets of real life timelines as well as how it related to the Chinese American diaspora too. Those included more about the wild times of the 50’s and how it really was such a huge turning point in this world from the wars, communism, McCarthyism, and other things that Chinese immigrants and other queer people experienced.

I am usually all-in for queer brits, but other than the self-depreciating humor this one fell flat for me. Also, felt it was way too long.

I was very much entertained and I know I am looking forward to reading the next book, but I really loathed the characters, and I get it, they weren't supposed to be loveable, but I also felt that there was not a lot of growth nor a lot of differences between the characters.

There is nothing like a JLA book! It is like eating candy, tastes great, satisfying, and all around just a good time!
