Is this book good? Ehhhh. The prose is fine but the worldbuilding and characters are not strong. It reminded me a lot of DA origins. The MC is not well developed and most of his characterization is just he felt, he thought, he expected. The relationship is not that thorough. The villains are just pure evil with very little  of their motivations understood besides they’re evil. However, I did read it in three days.
I do have to commend the narrator who put his whole narratorussy into this performance. Rent was due and he paid in full!!! Definitely do the audiobook. I don’t think I would have finished if I read it.

Can you describe something as arctic  in a fantasy that word seems a bit too idiosyncratic to me. Like how do you know there are bears there? Suspicious

I don’t think this book works well as an audiobook. I’ll probably have to reread it in print.
