I know this is going to upset some of y’all and I understand ! This is just my personal opinion.
Romance: The romance was cute and I really enjoyed how Julian’s character was already very knowledgeable and accepting of Yadriel. I did enjoy the sweet moments within their relationship. But I also feel like they lacked tension throughout the book.
Plot: This plot was going left to right the whole book but also took forever to get to the whole plot. In my opinion the plot shouldn’t be happening at 60% through the book. I feel the resolution was the only time the book sticked to the plot. I also didn’t enjoy the very long chapters , and the chapters were lots of information dumps.
Representation: The representation is phenomenal! I myself am hispanic and I feel like the author represented their culture perfectly. I did however find maritzas character a little bit stereotypical with being a female hispanic especially with her constant verbiage of “pendejo.”
I did like the scenes where Julian talks about why he doesn’t speak Spanish anymore that scene felt very relatable. I loved how this book talked about death and grief but not in a morbid way.
I definitely would recommend this to someone who wants to dip their toes into more diverse reading but I personally feel like it was very underwhelming.
The henna wars by Adiba Jaigirdar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 This book definitely wasn’t what I was expecting but in the best way. The talk about racism and homophobia within these characters was addressed perfectly. Loved this book and highly recommend it “I’m standing for me. For you.”
Fake dating. Enemies to lovers. Astrology sapphic romance. Loved this book so much and would definitely recommend it for a nice steamy romance. VERY steamy!! 16+rating Caught me by surprise how much I enjoyed this since it is new adult!
Enemies to lovers, fake dating, and characters flaws being focused on. Woah this book was amazing! Definitely would read it again! Highly recommend! Remind me of love Simon and written in the stars !
Didnt enjoy this book at all. Plot was confusing and too all over the place. Writing was confusing. The characters were not enjoyable.. really didn’t like this.
New favorite book? More likely than you think I loved this book so much! I couldn’t put it down and finished it in practically two days. I loved the characters, the plot, the suspense, the drama, and everything else about this book. The writing was amazing and I loved how the characters constantly changed their accents and dialect . Can not wait to read the second book once it comes out!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I wish there was more, would have loved for this to be a series. I loved the main character , Alessandra, she was very relatable. I found her wanting to feel important and appreciated by her family very relatable. Would have loved her to be more badass but at the same time loved the character as she is.
