This was rough. I ended up skimming the last 20%.
I was looking forward to having a non-orc MMC but eeesh this was disappointing. I feel like after Orek from Halfling, the MMCs lack severely in personality.
Don’t even get me started on Molly, my god she was annoying. I understand trauma and emotional abuse causing you to doubt yourself but holy shit it was constantly:
“Why would he pick me? There are many other barmaids to choose from. I’m just an orphan with big tits.”
“I’m just ‘Molly,’ I’m nobody.”
“Why would he want to marry me, when I’m the only reason my uncle has business in his tavern because of my shining personality and my big bazongas”
“Oh also have I mentioned how big my boobs are?”

Ugh. Very disappointed with this one.

Loved this one. Might takeover as my favorite Hazelwood novel. I don’t know why but I just really loved these two MCs.
Always appreciate the character cameos as well.

I don’t know what it was but the story didn’t grip me in this one. Hakon felt like a 2 dimensional Orek to me and it was hard to appreciate his romance.
Still enjoyable but definitely not my favorite.

While having roots in some very serious/disturbing situations, somehow I found myself giggling and kicking my feet through the book. It was very cute and cozy for the most part. (And obviously also very raunchy lol)

Did not finish book. Stopped at 9%.
The maid is a black woman named Tawny. WTF. Not to mention the lack of consent even though I’m only 9% into the book. Yeah, absolutely not.

First, the cover of this book is giving sweet romance and it is absolutely NOT THAT. 99% of this book was just them boning (not even interesting) and then like 2 pages of some kind of plot development and then pregnancy and babies. Lord I wish I could take back the time it took me to read this.

I really enjoyed this! Such a fantastical story and I loved all the characters.
The first quarter of the book was quite serious in its tone, but the second half of the book brought out the humor and found family to the forefront.
I really wish we got one kiss though; just one to make my heart flutter haha.

Honestly I was surprisingly entertained. The timeline for the story is a bit wobbly because supposedly the entire book takes place over 2 weeks, but it felt much longer than that.
There were some moments that made me cringe and question my reading choices but the world and story are interesting enough I’ll continue the series.

I was very enchanted by this book. I was so in love with it, but then she was in faerie and the entire tone of the book changed. The ending was dull, a bit confusing, and disappointing.
Now I find myself at a loss for how to feel so I’m afraid it’s only 3.5 stars for me. The first 70% was 5 stars though.

Wow I couldn’t put this down. It dragged at first but the writing was so lovely I knew I had to push on.
My heart hurts for so many different reasons. Mostly because my dumb*ss didn’t really let it sink in that this book was about two journalists during a WAR until sh*t hit the fan.
I really enjoyed it though and I’m looking forward to the second one.
