 Van Halen was my favorite band in the early 80s. Alex wrote about their childhood through the mid 80s when David Lee Roth left the band. It was fascinating to read about their childhood and rise to fame and the bond the brothers shared.

As a middle aged woman this would seem to be somewhat relatable but the protagonist was insufferable.  I felt similarly about Sandwich.

I didnt realize this was fiction & not a memoir until I was about half way through.  Oops.  Nonetheless this was a good debut.
