i love murderbot, my autistic genderless secunit best friend. all it wants to do is watch tv and not talk to humans!
this novel reads like a science fiction narrative podcast, which i adore as a huge enjoyer of those. can’t wait to read more in the series!

i have never read a book that follows a main character with such corrupt morality. this novel truly delves into the psyche of someone who seeks the power of a god, and what that does to a human being. it was dark and brutal, and deeply insane at some parts.

i definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a novel that is told mostly from the point of a villain-adjacent character.

there were things i enjoyed about this novel (mainly its reflections on capitalism, family, and the interesting concept of the fevered) but the present tense portions of the book didn’t do much for me other than make me deeply uncomfortable.
huge trigger warning for confinement in this novel that i had no idea of beforehand!
overall, a unique book with a captivating narrator. if it wasn’t for her flashbacks and insights on society i would not have finished this one.

heartbreaking, with a running current of hopelessness. some of the most beautiful prose i have ever read. truly a masterclass on apocalyptic fiction.

i have some issues with the ending, i felt like it did not align with the themes and ideas that had been set up by the entire book. but honestly, aside from the last 5 pages, it was a perfect novel in every respect.
