I listened to this via Libro.fm. Enjoyable, emotional and relatable essays ! I always enjoy when authors narrate their own work. I laughed out loud, teared up with the author a couple times as well.

I thought this was a cute "listen" via Libro.fm. Lighthearted, funny, diverse characters. Enjoyable! I listened to it while painting in class and while cleaning my apartment.
I really enjoyed this book, I found the writing style and pace engaging and felt like there was enough mystery/unknown aspects and tension to keep the novel going to the end. In particular, I felt Summers did an excellent job balancing the past timeline of Dorothy's past with her present age. I found reading from the mind of a serial killer/psychopath, someone who does not even possess a single morsel of empathy QUITE interesting!
I loved that each chapter was named after a particular ingredient or meal related to Dorothy's (and her victim's) lives. Especially.. the Rump Roast :)
Pay attention to the content warnings! Not a novel for a queasy stomach.
I purchased this book and plan on keeping it due to the writing style.
Moderate: Sexual assault, Blood, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal death and Drug use
I loved the writing style, I found the food related/recipe/restaurant parts of the novel informative and interesting. If you enjoy food and restaurant writing, you will enjoy this aspect.
I enjoyed the frantic, anxious and the flawed aspects from the main female character, mixed with the obvious dose of delusion, panic and the self-awareness toward the self-destruction. Accurately portrays love addiction, anxious/avoidant personalities and attachment styles.
If you're a fan of complicated characters with unresolved aspects from their lives, 'stream of consciousness-style' writing with short, disjointed thoughts discussed as chapters (glimpses of conversations, scattered/faded memories brought back into light in a self-reflective way, etc.)
I purchased this book and plan on keeping it, due to the writing style alone. As a fan of complicated characters, I feel like there's a second read in my future for this novel.

I read this during a day of traveling through multiple airports, layovers and flights. I found the novel had enough tension for me to keep reading, wanting to solve the questions I had relating to the dynamics of the characters. However, I finished the novel with more questions - all was not as it seemed. Which, I believe ... may be the point.
I felt like the last act was rushed, which was unfortunate because that featured plot was my favorite. I purchased the book and am planning on donating it.
If you feel compelled, another read-through of the book could be helpful ... I don't plan on reading it again so I will be donating my copy ... If I feel compelled to read it again, I'll reach out to my local library.
