an on-the-nose metaphor but great storytelling nonetheless. I’m convinced that (blue-people) Avatar was inspired by this book

haunting and disturbing, this is much a story of the Holocaust as it is an x-men comic. I was a Magneto sympathizer before, and I’m cooked now

I really liked Annihilation so I had high hopes for this one, and man am I disappointed. the only horror in this book is the secondhand embarrassment of watching this man fumble every single day. bullied by people he’s supposed to be in charge of and paranoia as his only personality trait. nothing consequential at ALL happens in the first 80% of this book, and not enough is elaborated on or explored after that. this could have been 1/3 as long and I feel like I just wasted that time. genuinely, just read a summary instead. also

finally I’ve met the character who Is Me according to a quiz I took before I even knew what this series was !
also there’s something extremely charming about cooking up and eating your nightmares after they’ve been ruining your dreams for days
