Just as I thought I understood where this book was going, I suddenly did not. A second reading would help me figure out if the fault is mine or the book's, but I don't think it was quite engrossing enough for me to try it again.

This was not nearly as hilarious as My Lady Jane. My Lady Jane flew by - I read it in an afternoon, I think. This book just dragged. I would have given it three stars, but the last scene that shoehorns in the Rochesters' young, hot son made me feel cranky and spiteful and undermined what would have otherwise been a very contented ending.

Good overall, but a bit rushed.
