I'm so conflicted on rating this book. The actual storyline was pretty good and the spice was quite enjoyable and well written. However the narrator was HORRIBLE. It sounded like she was a computerized voice most of the time. Or she sounded like she was trying to sound sultry even during the parts that were not "bedroom" related. It made the story hard to listen to and made it difficult to connect with the characters since they basically had no emotion.

Wendi does it again with another feel good but incredibly spicy monster romance! I love that she finds more obscure monsters to use and integrates them and their mythos into real life in such a realistic way. I really appreciate the "found family" trope as someone who lives nowhere near their real family anymore.

But obviously the important part: the monster spice is just *chef's kiss*. What would you be willing to do to summon a  prurience god? And how do you get rid of him once he's here? #oops This book is also perfect if you've ever wondered what it feels like to physically obsess over a celebrity for months and then meet them to find they're a feral cinnamon roll that's also obsessed with you.

This is also a super quick and engrossing read, I finished it in two hours flat on a Saturday night.

I was definitely impressed with the ride that Stacy Willingham took me on. I can't say I loved Chloe, she was definitely a flawed character in many ways, and those flaws were perfect for delivering the story. I did guess the final solution very early in the beginning, which is why I've taken off a quarter star. I haven't taken off more, because I spent the next 10 hours second guessing myself and convinced my original guess was wrong. However, that's the mark of a good thriller, you should never quite know where everything stands. All the clues really were there, some of which were clear, some of which were only obvious in hindsight. I also appreciated that Willingham wrapped up each of her clues and loose ends succinctly at the end without it feeling forced. I will say that I found it to be a bit slow for a little while since we joined Chloe in all her introspection but once we started getting hints and teasers it picked right back up. Then the last two hours or so were a binged rush that I didn't want to turn off.

- Homey and domestic with a dash of adventure
- Second-chance insta-love
- Oh so hot and spicy in every way
- A little too slow and introspective at a couple points for me

It was absolutely easy to get wrapped up in Amanda and Jack's story. They are a fun and fiery combination that takes advantage of every moment they have together. I don't want to ruin the spicy surprises by going into too much detail, but my oh my they are *delicious*.

Irene adds the perfect amount of adventure and mystery in with her romance making for a well-balanced and fast-paced story that keeps you hooked. Plus, I loved the nod to everyone's favorite archaeologist towards the end!

I absolutely loved every word of this book. Even though it's over 700 pages, there was no point where I wanted to stop reading and I definitely shorted myself on sleep a couple of nights when I lost myself in it.

Parker's world-building is exquisite. The world she crafted is deep and thorough as are her characters. I honestly cannot decide which of them I love more. There's a strong but flawed FMC, a giant teddy bear MMC plus beautiful, unique dragons. Plus even the side characters are equally as developed, even the ones we barely get to know in this book, clearly have fully developed back stories. I can't wait for the next installment to flesh them out further as well as the next phase of the plot. I guessed a couple of the twists right before we found out about them but they were very well done.

Highly recommend to any lover of high fantasy.
