No matter the genre, I love a strong pair/group sibling bond and Sage & Sean were so sweet to read about. The romance and parallel dedication to their crafts were very captivating as well.

I don’t know if I have ever related to a character’s approach to friendships (especially female friendships) & relationships like I did to Halle. I loved how quintessentially college this felt. I loved Henry & Halle as a couple, everything about their love felt real and earned and like a team.

This book gave me a lot of hope for the collective souls of black folk in America and reminded me of the constant hoping that resistance is based in. The mix between black american folklore, history, and the science fiction twist was so incredibly done.

The setup for the plot felt like a 2000s rom-com and the book fulfilled all I was hoping for. All the men that Anna went on a date with were so interesting & flushed-out. The way Anna learned and grew a little more with each date was beautiful, and all the friends she makes along the way is very fun. My favorite of her dates were Caleb & Noah. And how she ends up with who she ends up with at the end, perfectly written!

There are not a lot of hetero romance mangas with the male love interest's point of view as the singular view, like this one, and it was honestly so refreshing. It was also nice to see the woman make the first move but they're both pursuing each other equally. The way the romance progress was just very sweet and smooth, the two encouraging and delving into each other's interests and passions. I also liked how the pandemic was handled in this, very in passing.
