The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
Calling women crazy or saying they’re too high maintenance for being vegan is super gross, and 130 pages in this had happened enough times that I put the book down. Also, Kristen’s unwillingness to just tell Josh what the fuck was up was already annoying and I had a feeling it was gonna keep going that way.

I took a months-long break from this book which made me think that I must not have been enjoying it, but actually the ending is just really sad. These books are so freaking well written, they’re more detailed and vivid than real life sometimes. These books on audible read by Davina Porter SLAP. Each book is 40 hours of crazy good storytelling and sick characters that are complex and human and not at all dull or predictable. I cannot express how dope I think Diana Gabaldon is for this shit. I can’t believe this series will ever end. Come for the accents and sex, stay for the excellent writing, the badass female protagonist, and yeah the accents and sex.

It was fun but I didn’t feel that the characters were developed enough to feel real, and their reasons for hating each other were too dumb to have been drawn out so long. It was a quick fun read though !

This book was SO good, very well written. Kinda broke my heart but it reflects positively that the characters experiences made me feel SO much.

This is the second Emily Henry book I’ve read. I preferred Beach Read. Found this one a bit disappointing, leaning heavily on character tropes but not committing enough to turn them on their heads. Found the characters and their issues over dramatized and hard to relate to. GREAT sex scenes tho.
