(sighs) i should've dnf'd this. tell me why this took me SO LONG to finish despite being so short. tell me why this was boring as hell. tell me why i read it anyway. this book is weird and not even in a good way, more in an "internalized misogyny" kind of way. why is the manic pixie dream girl trope in here? why is the male main character so violent towards women and insufferable? why did this book have absolutely nothing to say about any of that at all? not to mention the countless spelling/grammar errors that i'm sure weren't always intentional. anywayz this book sucked booooo tomato tomato tomato.

wow that was insane. oh my god? that was so much to process. really riveting and intense and...insanely graphic. huge tw for child violence and death! this was a whirlwind of a book but i loved the themes and the imagery and the prose. it was, despite its gruesome nature, a fairly pleasurable and effective read. it did what it sought out to do!

this was so pleasant!!! i think i love cozy fantasy. i really loved the more lore accurate approach to faeries than other novels tend to portray. this was just so much fun and such a calming and heartwarming read (-: i love wendell and emily idc.

oh wow. i don't even know if i can rate this with confidence, but i rate everything i read so ????? yeah four stars i guess? like this book was absolutely insane and i think its the darkest book ive ever read. definitely check trigger warnings. this book was incredibly bleak and just horrific on all accounts, but extremely effective! i can't say i had fun. i can't say it was enjoyable. but it was so interesting and so effective at what it does, that i can't give it anything other than a 4-star rating honestly. i have no idea what i thought about this book and cannot, in good faith, recommend it, but despite all of that, i found it to be very enigmatic and easy to get through. wow.

i really thoroughly enjoyed this. this was an absolute rollercoaster and descent into madness, a really cool combination of science fiction and (cosmic?) horror! just very weird and trippy. loved it though! very quick read and very cool take on a haunted house story.
