This book showed me why I don't read literary fiction- it broke my heart and then started to put it together again but I still wasn't happy. This book is super dark and was really triggering. That being said the characters felt so real and it will stay with me for a long time. The writing also was phenomenal!

I loved this, it was such a unique take on dark academia with a fantasy twist! I loved and hated the characters and had no idea where the story was going, although as it was happening, everything made total sense

I really liked this book, but I found myself expecting, and wanting, a little more at parts- might be due to the book being short, but I think a lot of elements could have been expanded on.

The first half of this book was so engaging, but I think my main issue was the pacing- because the middle dragged and then the end was brought up so quickly
I guess this could be a plot device with her illness coming from nowhere, but it still felt jarring, alongside the strange time jumps

I also really disliked how Kate was portrayed when she got older, when I think this could have been a good story showing that both paths can be fulfilling, as long as the woman chooses her path. I also thought the plot
of setting up an affair between Tully and Johnny for it never to happen was odd- I'm glad it didn't but there were way too many hints towards it

I've seen so much hype around this book, and it did not disappoint! It was heartbreaking and heartwarming and the ending made my stomach drop- will definitely stay with me
