amazing follow up to the first book. I enjoyed this one a lot more, especially because of the character development of Jezal and Ferro (kinda). West went from me liking him to cheering him on to me being disgusted by him and I love it (get your misogyny checked tho, you're being insufferable).

great book, very hopeful and it made me emotional.
But I have one big issue regarding her mental health. All of the problems the MC had in her life up to the point of her suicide attempt disappeared, simply because she found her will to live. I find that to be a very shallow view on mental health and it rubbed me the wrong way.
I would've hoped for a more dialled down ending- hopeful all the same- but with her overcoming her parts of her depression over a span of time after having found herself and her will to live.

How I love character driven books. The characters are amazing, especially Glokta. I would've given it 4 stars if it weren't for the underwhelming ending of the group going with Bayaz.

Also, Ferro's character is so...

I don't think I have much more to say

[Ginsburg translation]

I enjoyed the story a lot but had trouble understanding what exactly was happening at times. I think this might be the fault of the translation I chose.

I will reread Burgin's & O'Conner's translation sometime later this year
