Our young protagonist- who goes nameless- is swept off her feet by the handsome and rich Maxim de Winter and quickly becomes his wife. However the house they share is still haunted by the ghost of Maxim’s late wife and the titular Rebecca. The new Mrs de Winter is constantly in Rebecca’s shadow, not to mention that Rebecca’s old maid Mrs Danvers (who was infatuated with Rebecca) is constantly trying to undermine her.

This is a gothic horror story with plenty to analyse. It’s almost a psychological horror. The plot is fantastic, the characters are messy and real, and the ending is spectacular. I guessed the “twist” but honestly even if you see it coming this book is enjoyable.

Odd Thomas sees the dead- who don’t speak. A dream foresees a deadly shooting at a bowling alley in only 24 hours time, and he must find a way to stop it.

A race of a story from start to finish, lovable characters (Odd as the awkward and unlikely protagonist, and Stormy as his beautiful mysterious girlfriend) this is a story I found hard to get into, but when it picked up I couldn’t put it down.

An amazing book. I can’t quite put into words how incredible this book is. I am in love with it. Every time I feel sad I think of Liesel and how strong she is, and I strive to be like her. Her willingness to grow and work hard, and to protect her family is incredible. Inspiring but I needed so many tissues.

Painstaking and with a tone of bittersweetness. I didn’t guess the killer, which made it all the more interesting, but this is a very emotional novel

An incredible book. I wondered how it would manage to keep me hooked for over 600 pages- but it did! I was hanging onto every sentence. A very dark book though, I did have to put it down at times to calm down, but I loved this book and the ending made me cry a lot.

I fully went into this expecting it to be about Manly Men hating their wives- I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised with what I got.

The most anxiety inducing book I’ve read so far.
