I especially liked the first part on the Lord's Prayer. He really opened up the meanings in the prayer. It's so much more expanded for me now and has made it new and so meaningful-something I feel is a prayer from my heart.  I have a sense that Jesus would have actually had this prayer in mind to open his followers up to being like himself.

Good mystery, but the story and characters were not very much to my liking.

This is the New Testament in the NRSV placed in chronological order according to when written. Marcus Borg gives a great introduction to each document. His perspective including current scholarship gave me a new perspective in this time through the New Testament. It would be helpful to those who have found common teaching to be problematic. I wish I'd had this book in my own journey much earlier.

Fantastic book. Very slow and deep. I listened to it read by the author. This is quality literature about people, pain, love, and ultimately what matters and is possible even through tragedy. The characters are full with their faults and beauty. I loved this book. It's not for adventure seekers, but is for those who want something to chew on and a very good story to deliver it.

Much more to gratitude than I had thought. Big take away for me: gratitude IN all things not FOR all things. It is something we can choose to make.

The writing style is not really 5-star. But... the quick descriptions of people and actions makes for a very fast-paced story. And the story was full and intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed zipping through this. I'm interested to go through the series to see the story of the couple who did the detective work for the main character. They were lovable and interesting.
