This overall wasn't for me. It felt like a whole lot of nothing happening. I think there were interesting aspects of it and the characters were okay but I wasn't invested much until more towards the middle-end of it. It didn't hold my interest very well, but I did finish it.

Pretty decent. Def understand the comparisons to Good Omens as it has a similar vibe although a different storyline. Liked this better than Good Omens tho.
Didn't quite like the kind of se**al as***lt situation and then that being used against the person later on tho. Also def think this could've been cut down because the audiobook was approx 18 hrs give or take.
Liked the characters overall tho and liked the story overall as well. Not my favorite book but it was a decent one to pass some time.

Holy crap this was so good. I picked it up on a whim and will def read more from the author. Lots of diverse representation which is great. There is a lot of violence, gore, and religious bigotry plus other things so please read trigger/content warnings. It wasn't the greatest idea to read it during a very uncertain time in the u.s. where this world could be very real here tho.

Super enjoyable read! Full of whimsy and coziness. There was a sad section towards the end that made me cry a bit (if you have a grandparent or child that passed away, the section might make you cry as well). The world is wonderful, the characters are wonderful, and I appreciate that the dreams touched on multiple emotions/feelings that weren't only positive.
Will def read the next book when it comes out.

The Hysterical Girls of St. Bernadette's by Hanna Alkaf

Read trigger/content warnings. The author does have a brief warning at the beginning as well.
Once again, Hanna Alkaf writes another banger for me. She has quickly become my fave ya author not only because culturally I can connect, but also her writing is just so good. It's a great take on supernatural horror/haunted house (well in this case haunted school) while also discussing heavy topics like sexual assault, r*p*, and PTSD. I enjoyed the characters and the story line flowed well for me. I liked the ending overall, but I wish there was one little thing involving the first missing girl to fully close the story. I did start to tear up at one part towards the end which the author somehow always makes me emotional in her books.
There were very topical and memorable lines toward the last fourth of the book like "How many times have we dismissed a girl because she acts in ways that makes us uncomfortable?" and "Perhaps girls just do what they can to get by. To survive." Plus many more that I even took pics of the pages with the lines on them.
I will def be watching out for what the author writes next because every single thing she has written has been top tier for me.

This was pretty good. Def check trigger/content warnings and there is an author's note describing the trigger/content warnings at the beginning of the book as well.
I liked the main characters and the overall story. I also liked the very ending. There was one brief moment that I was like "oh you stupid teen why did you think that would work when it didn't before" but besides that I generally like the main characters. The side characters were also mostly good/enjoyable with a couple exceptions.

Overall pretty decent. I could kind of guess the little twist but it still kept me entertained. Liked the mc quite a bit and overall understood the motivation of the bad guy but how the bad guy explained it was kind of meh.
