The Shadowbound King by Amy Pennza
5.0
“We’re all captive to the past… and everyone serves. Even kings.”
“The Shadowbound King,” by Amy Pennza
I adored this book so much. I loved how they were autumn court fae the most. I loved the MMF relationship with sword crossing, it’s a messy and entertaining relationship to read with the push and pull between the three MC’s. I felt like it was paced really well so I wasn’t bored but wasn’t too fast that I could enjoy the relationships build. I definitely need to read more books by Amy Pennza. 5 out of 5 stars.

“If I could hurt him, I hadn’t lost him to the nameless, faceless monsters neither of us could ever really conquer. We could only battle them… and lose a little bit of the war each time.”
“Strong things are harder to break, but they can be broken. Everything can be broken.”
Nympho Notes by Holly Guy

This was a good book. I liked the plot of being demons, a working relationship, and the mental illness aspect. I liked how none of the characters were really very good but at least a little evil. I loved how there was sword crossing aspect but also it was pretty manipulative and abusive but one of the MMC has some serious anxious style attachment which I sympathize with. The plot got a little tedious in some parts which made it lose one star for me. It’s a good book for readers who want a smut driven, dark romance demon type vibe. 4 out of 5 stars.

Shadowed Fate by Rowan Shane

“Loneliness, I realize, is a dangerous thing. It can make you cling to the smallest scrap of nothing, convincing yourself it’s something. But, sometimes not enough is worse than nothing at all.”
“Shadowed Fate,” by Rowan Shane
I liked this book. It did have a lot of tropes (reverse harem, fated mates, enemies to lovers, fae, shifters, vampires, witches, academy, shadow magic etc). I did feel like the number of tropes overshadowed a lot of the book sometimes. I wish it was longer, so I had more time to fall in love and feel really connected to the characters, but it wasn’t bad, just a little fast paced for me. I’m going to read book two of the series and hope I get more invested in the characters and their romance. 3 out of 5 stars.

Bonds of Silver and Mist by Veronica Chastain

This was a fun book. I really liked reading it, I loved the mystery behind Troy. I loved Troy’s and Lily’s relationship and the slow-burn tension between the two’s attractions and shyness of each other. Troy is on the grumpy side but not overly grumpy, he’s actually a sweet, caring person but helps “against his will” lol. The Fae characters were characters I don’t normally see in Fae books in this type of context. I really liked the story and can’t wait for the next book. 4 out of 5 stars.

Anchor by D.N. Hoxa

“Anchor,” by D. N. Hoxa
I loved this book so much. I adore all of D. N. Hoxa’s books so far, every single one has been amazing, and this one did not disappoint. I can’t seem to get enough of this series, I NEED MORE! The two main characters are absolutely amazing, I love their history, I love their love and hate, I love every single thing about these two. The story took turns that I wasn’t expecting, it gives me dystopian type feels but with the fantasy vibe that I eat up in books. I love how complicated it gets toward the end. I love love love how Aurora has developed and the kind of person she is now. Can’t wait to read more books by Hoxa, 5 out of 5 stars.

The main gist of how I felt about this book was it was cute and spicy. There was lots of smut and the whole atmosphere of the book was club house vibes. I feel like the club house vibes made it stand out in my mind because that was new to me, and it wasn’t bad, so I liked it. I feel like it was a lot shorter book than it actually was, and I’m not sure why my brain thought it was a quick read while I was reading it? I think it was a good fun siren x vampire romance book. 4 out of 5 stars.

Carving Shadows into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer

“Carving Shadows into Gold,” by Brigid Kemmerer
I really liked this book. My favorite part was Jax and Tycho’s relationship, it kept me glued to the pages. It has a little romance but way more action and political intrigue than anything else, so if that’s what you like in books then this book is perfect. The entire series was really good, and I enjoyed reading it. It’s not my favorite series she has done but it was a close call. 4 out of 5 stars.

A Crown So Silver by Lyra Selene

“We came together from a dark place. Does that mean it was not real?”
“A Crown So Silver,” by Lyra Selene
When I read the first book from the series last year it became one of my most favorite books of all time and I was so afraid the second book in the series would have second book syndrome; but I’m happy to say that it absolutely did not, it was so utterly perfect. Getting back in the head space with Fia and Irian but not with death trails and possible love triangle and old enemies. So many miscommunications and they need to start trusting each other so messes don’t get messier, ugh. I loved the change of scenery and location in this book, and it kept it fresh. I really can’t wait for book 3 and I have no doubts that it will be just as good as book 1 and 2. Anyways, I can’t give away too much without ruining big parts of the book. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book, a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

“I was made of mountains and forests and burned-out stars. I was not made for an ending I hadn’t earned.”
“Things that have changed can never go back to the way they used to be- no matter how much we may wish it. And whether we like it or not, things are always changing. Change is how we know were alive. That doesn’t mean it does not hurt to leave parts of ourselves behind. Parts of ourselves we can never get back.”
“And looking forward with hope is better than looking backward with regret.”
“Maybe it’s better to be alone together… than alone apart.”
“But it can be far easier to hide behind the identities were given- the masks that make us most comfortable.”
“Why does every happy ending always seem to come at the cost of another person’s tragedy?”
“There are villains who do bad things for the right reasons. And there are villains who do good things for the wrong reasons.”
