I also loved that both main characters worked in STEM but in different fields. It was so neat to see their passions in this story and how they shared their passions with each other and his nieces.
This book had some amazing subtropes that made the story even better. I love a good caretaker when sick and this one was amazing.
The romance in this one developed really well but once it developed it moved lightening fast - too fast for me. But it was super sweet and had some really good moments.
I am glad I discovered this book through Bookstagram and got an advanced copy through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I really can't believe this was a debut. It was so good and gave me a book hangover. It was also my favorite narrator, Kyla Garcia!
I like how the author called this rivals to more because they weren't really full blown enemies but there was definitely an edge and the workplace dynamic was very well written.
I absolutely loved both Annie and Ben especially when they talked about her work, analytics, and basketball. Their passion really came through. And eventually they realize there is passion besides work and the sparks are wonderful even without being super steamy. I'd give this one 🔥🔥. It isn't closed door but the door isn't wide open either.

I hated that Rowan hurt Violette when they were kids but seeing them back in the same town made for some interesting sparks. I love how they were brought back together and he was able to redeem himself. I especially loved seeing him with her daughter.

There are a few triggers in this that are disclosed up front. Please read those. But this book was one of the best researched books I've ever read. You could tell St. James really did her homework and it made the book absolutely incredible.
I really loved learning more about hotshots and also about the things in Scottie's past too.
I cannot wait to start the next book in the series.
