Craving in His Blood by Zoey Draven
5.0
4.5✨
Desire in His Blood in one of my favorite reads of the year, so needless to say, I was beyond excited to get started on the next installment of this series with Craving in His Blood.
Overall, I felt very satisfied! While Azur and Gemma’s romance remains my favorite, I so loved following along Kyleth and Millie’s journey. It was so incredibly sweet and beautiful. It’s a low stakes plot, which for me is just fine as I loved so many moments of watching our leads fall in love and have their bliss away from the rest of the world. I adored it!
It’s definitely grumpy x sunshine and I loved every bit of it. It felt so effortless to root for their love, to desire its endgame. I love how even though it was insta-love/lust, they took to the time to get to know one another. It may not be a slow burn, but it does pace itself quite well. I tend to stray away from romances that develop quickly, but truly, even if the attraction is immediate, as are the kisses, you don’t feel any part of their relationship is too fast. It’s all so well earned!
The only nit-pick I have was that I wish the stakes felt a bit higher, specifically the way it was felt in Desire in His Blood. The story didn’t pack the exact same punch, but at the same time, I wouldn’t want it to. Overall, I do consider this a very minor nitpick. I simply wanted more in a way I can’t readily explain in words.
I absolutely adore this series and can’t wait for the next installment! I think Kaldur is up next, and although there is literally no hints towards it, I’m foolishly hoping Piper can be co-lead, if only to my girl Gemma can play a role. Regardless, one thing is certain: Zoey Draven can do no wrong in my book. Whatever she chooses to do will be the very right thing for this series. I’ll eagerly await the next adventure!
