This is one of those books that I'm entirely unable to give a rating. Is it good? Yes. Is it unique? Definitely. Is it emotional? For sure. Was the writing good? Absolutely. But it was also hard to read at times and I knew that I had to push through because if I put it down & took a break from it, I knew I might not pick it up again.

While that may sound like I didn't like it, that isn't true. I did. But it's... difficult. Because the topic of abuse (domestic or otherwise) is a personal one for me. I've been in Dawson's shoes. Which made the beginning hard to read and the romance... a bit difficult to relate to and connect with. At the same time, post-accident Cal is an adorably clueless himbo most of the time, which made the change even more jarring but it also made the romance very sweet.

GAH. See what I mean? I don't know what to think or how to feel about this. I would recommend you check it out for yourselves and form your own opinion of it. BUT, be warned! If abuse of any kind is a trigger for you, be mindful if you choose to read this. Especially the first few chapters. Take care of yourself first, always.

I don't really know what else to say about this, and I know my review likely might not make sense, but neither do my thoughts, so there you have it.
