The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

5.0

Whoa! I'm so glad I happened to find this while looking for a short book to read! This may not be a horror story in the typical sense. There's no ghosts or murderers or that sort of thing, but it is one of those books that gives you chills down to your bones! The writing was beautiful, I felt the main characters despair right along side her. I really appreciate that Charlotte Perkins Gilman chose yellow wallpaper. It was strong symbolism for a book so small. I'm so thankful in how far we've come both in mental health and women's rights since this book was published. I'm surprised I've never heard of it before, as I think it is a great work of feminist literature.
