The Fourth Read in the Beyond the Page Series
This is the fourth book of the beyond the page cozy mystery series. Addie lives in a seaside town that her ancestors were founders of. She owns and works at a book store. The harbour is home to many great mansions and one of is having an estate sale.
Addie is excited to attend the sale despite rumours of the house being haunted. She wants to try to replenish her book supply as it is just what her successful little bookshop needs for the summer rush.
Addie and her cousin have offered their assistances to the very stressed out appraiser. The books they are cataloging are great finds and they discover many rare first editions. The following day Addie returned to the house early to help set up for the auction, only to discover the appraiser dead in the homes private library and the rare books missing.
Addie is certain the theft and untimely death are connected. Her ex Marc just so happens to be chief of police. They are on rocky terms. He starts investigating the scene with his new girlfriend in tow, an FBI agent who is convinced all the evidence points to Addie as being the thief and possible murderer.
Addie is shocked and must do some of her own investigating to prove her innocence and find out what actually happened.
Addie develops many theories and tries her hardest to prove them with the help of her new boyfriend Dr. Simon Emerson and best friend Serena.
I loved this cozy read with many theories playing into the plot. Secret passage ways, ghosts and haunting, history, and many characters all playing into the mix to solve this mystery and clear Addies name of all suspicion. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
