Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor

Well… that was a twist! And one that I did not see coming! And changed the whole book for me! I felt pretty “meh” about it the whole time, I mostly found it kind of boring and stilted, and I always have problems when books are like wow this genius author wrote this groundbreaking work, and then they show you the fictional book and it’s mostly just okay. But by the end it makes SO much more sense why it read and felt the way it did. I kind of want to go back and reread it with this new lens, though it was fairly slow going the first time around. What this book is saying about AI, storytelling, and capturing “real” humanity via sci fi is so interesting and I’m so glad I powered through.
