The Risk by Elle Kennedy
5.0
I was SO excited to read this book when I saw that Brenna would be the main character. I absolutely loved her personality in Briar U, #1.
In walks Jake Connelly and boy did I love him just as much. These two together with the banter and slow burn fall was such a treat to read.
Reading about the struggles that women face when trying to break through into the sports industry was a really nice change from other athlete romances that I've read where usually the sports are just a "guy thing." Brenna tries to carve herself a spot in the "Boys club" and I really liked how she tried to do this.
Lastly, I was pretty pleased with

Hazel's "redemption" at the end. She was really grating on my nerves throughout the book even though I knew her attitude stemmed from her feelings for Jake. If she really wouldn't have given him back his bracelet i was going to be SO upset. But being able to not only give it back to him but to also admit her feelings and then still make the effort with Brenna even after being rejected by Jake, I found that takes a big person. Thanks for yet another fabulous Briar U story, Elle Kennedy!
