A Short History of Queer Women by Kirsty Loehr

funny informative lighthearted reflective fast-paced

4.0

I acknowledge the author's note about gender identity and the accessibility of language relating to people who lived in the past without labelling themselves but I did feel this risked both transphobic and bi-erasure/phobia. I feel like "queer women" would have sufficed perfectly for those more ambiguous cases and suited the book's title perfectly too. Although I hasten to add this does not mean I am against using the word lesbian. I bloody love the word lesbian and all that it implies and refers to.
