Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
4.5
The first 100 or so pages of this book were painful for me, not that it was bad writing just that I am a woman in stem (geochemistry) and was already having an existential crisis about only working with men. So all the men in stem=bad was painful (shes right they are bad but it just hurts to see they used to be worse). After I reached a certain pivotal moment in the book everything started to pickup and I really enjoyed the book. We love strong women and found family just had to wade through some painful stuff to get there. But that's kinda the Whole Point bc Elizabeth had to live that shit and still persevered. Oh also the U.S. cover of this book is uggo and doesn't do the contents or themes of the book any justice.
