The Listening Walls by Margaret Millar
4.0
Margaret Millar is so good at plotting her twisty noir tales, and she’s got a witty way with dialog and economical phrasemaking. Sometimes the story’s turns are a little ludicrous, and sometimes the writing moves too fast, leaving you wanting a slightly deeper probing of everyone’s interiority. But that’s how this genre works—The Listening Walls is another pulpy page-turner you just can’t help seeing as a movie. Good, clean fun!
