Night School by Lee Child

mysterious tense

2.0

This was my first Lee Child novel and unfortunately it's a flop. I think Child is able to plot out an entertaining thriller, but his writng leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not a fan of his short or weirdly formulated sentences where each new part starts with 'and'. Has he not heard of the comma? I also really dislike how he often begins sentences with conjunctions instead of continuing the previous sentence. It's just such an odd choice. I would give it some slack if it was a character quirk, but every single character sounds exactly the same in this book.

I also strongly dislike Reacher's character. That guy's a prick and not even in an amusing way, but in an obnoxious way.

Unfortunately I have another Reacher novel on my shelf, this one written with Andrew Child, so maybe there's a sliver of hope that it will be better.
