King of the Dark by Ariana Nash
4.0
4.3 stars
I swear Ariana Nash tries to kill me with every book she writes. She reads “Captive Prince” and thinks, “what if this was darker?” Every character of hers goes through hell and not everyone makes it out alive. There’s *less* incest than Silk and Steel, but it’s still not 0%. It’s very Game of Thrones, but luckily she does NOT fumble that ending. After all the torture it concludes fantastically, like 5 stars landing. (…If the people you rooted for survived.)
4/5 spice I think. Book 3 is much more plot heavy than spicy, though the bonus novella is opposite.
TW: sexual assault and rape off page and on, gore, incest attraction in background, brutal war, heavy drug use, torture, characters will die
